Tender Announcement Sale of Power and Water Desalination Plant

Sohar Power Company SAOG, the Owner of the Sohar Power and Desalination Plant (the “Plant”) situated at Sohar Industrial Port Area, wishes to call for bids from interested parties for the sale of Plant, with preference given to buyers interested in purchasing the entire plant, whether to continue operations at the current site or to dismantle the equipment and move it to their business area for their own use.

 

Power Plant:

 

The power plant is designed to generate 585 MW at reference site conditions.  It comprises three Siemens SGT5-2000E (formerly known as V94.2) gas turbine generators(“GT”), each fitted with Heat Recovery Steam Generators (“HRSG”), which utilize the exhaust heat of the GTs to generate high pressure and low pressure steam. The HRSGs are dual pressure natural circulation type, manufactured by Doosan Heavy Industries (“DHI”). The HP steam is supplied to one extraction-condensing steam turbine (“ST”) to complete the combined cycle. The ST manufacturer is Alstom (now taken over by GE). The LP steam from the HRSGs combined with the extraction from the ST is supplied to the thermal desalination plant.

 

Water Desalination Plant:

 

The four Multi-Stage Flash (MSF) desalination units, are designed to deliver capacity of net potable water of 150,000 m3/day (each 37,500 m3/day) at design conditions. The MSFs are manufactured by DHI, one of the leading suppliers of MSF-type desalination units. Each MSF unit has 17 heat recovery stages and 3 heat rejection stages and has a performance ratio of 8.4 kg distillate per 2326 KJ of steam at a Top Brine Temperature of 110°C.

 

Other key balance of plant systems include seawater intake, DM Plant, Fire water, Effluent Treatment, Potabilization, Emergency Diesel Generator, Chemical dosing systems, Fuel oil tanks, Lab and Workshop equipment, etc.

 

Note that the entire Power and Desalination Plant, plant, and balance of plant equipment are located in the Sohar Industrial Port.

Tender Documents Collection Date:

The tender will be available for collection from 7 December 2023.  The last date for tender collection is 20 December 2023 before 3:00 pm.

 

 

Tender Submission Date:

The last date of tender submission is on or before 22 January 2024 before 5:00 pm.
